Average AMD Radeon RX 6000 and Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 card prices hit 12-month low

Average prices for AMD Radeon RX 6000 series cards and boards from the Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 range have hit a 12-month low according to a new report. The data was taken from numerous German and Austrian retailers and could indicate that RX 6000 and RTX 30 series graphics cards may soon hit MSRP levels.

Another GPU price report has been posted by 3DCenter, updating its previous analysis from the middle of February. According to the graph created by the German-language tech site (see below), the retail price trends for both AMD’s Radeon RX 6000 family and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 30 cards have dipped once again. Team Red’s figure stands at 135% while Team Green’s settled at 141%, although this does mean that prices for graphics cards are still much higher than MSRP.

It may be a strange thing for gamers or PC builders to cheer about, potentially having to pay 135% or 141% of MSRP for a Radeon RX 6800 or GeForce RTX 3070 (these are the two boards that attract the highest surcharges at +63% and +60%, respectively). However, those figures weren’t too far off 200% in December 2021, and in May of last year they were at over 200% for AMD and over 300% for Nvidia. At least the price levels appear to be going in the right direction as supply continues to improve.

While these figures are taken from specific retailers, they should give a reasonable snapshot of the overall state of the graphics card market, with statistics taken from nine retailers to help reduce outliers. Interestingly, the well-known graphics card leaker Greymon55 posted on Feb 20 that “It looks like GPU prices are going to drop dramatically next month”, and it seems the tipster’s prediction has been accurate, although some would have hoped for more dramatic drops than 16% for Nvidia and 10% for AMD.
